IPTV on Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client

Kodi is one of the most flexible media centers in the world, and it happens to be an excellent IPTV player. By adding the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on, you can load your TopIPTV M3U playlist directly into Kodi and watch live television alongside your movies and series, all from a single interface on a Fire Stick, Android box, PC or even a Raspberry Pi. The software is free, and TopIPTV plans start at $60 CAD for six months — a fraction of a cable bill.

Why Kodi for IPTV

Kodi is free, open source and runs on almost anything. Once installed, it becomes your home for everything: live TV through the PVR section, the full TopIPTV VOD library through add-ons, and your own local media collection. Because Kodi is a media center first, the experience feels polished — big covers, smooth navigation and a program guide that rivals dedicated IPTV apps.

Adding Your M3U Playlist

The PVR IPTV Simple Client is the standard way to bring IPTV into Kodi. It is installed from the official Kodi repository — no shady third-party builds required. In its settings, you enter your TopIPTV M3U link, and Kodi loads your channels. You can also point it at your Xtream credentials if your subscription provides them, which adds the EPG automatically.

  • ✓ Live TV with an electronic program guide (EPG) on supported channels
  • ✓ Recording support for compatible channels
  • ✓ Favorites and channel groups for quick browsing

What You Get: EPG, Recording and Favorites

With the playlist loaded, Kodi's TV section shows your 14,000+ channels with logos and an EPG grid. You can set favourites, group channels the way you like and, on many builds, record live TV to disk. The guide lets you scroll through the coming days on channels that provide guide data, and timeshift works on many configurations. It turns Kodi into a full DVR without any extra hardware beyond storage.

Performance Tips and Alternatives

For smooth playback, enable hardware acceleration in Kodi's settings, use a light skin for faster navigation and make sure your device is connected by Ethernet when streaming 4K. If you find Kodi more involved than you need, simpler apps such as IPTV Smarters Pro, GSE Smart IPTV or the TOPIPTV Player give you the same channels with a lighter setup — grab them from our download page.
